Huang and Hussey 2010 MBA Outstanding Juniors top of page
Congratulations to James Huang of Wildwood, Missouri, and Quinn Hussey of Charleston, Illinois, the 2010 Midwest Outstanding Juniors! Both Junior players will receive airfare to the 2010 Junior National Championships to be held in Burlingame, CA, June 30-July 6, a polo shirt to wear during the tournament, and their name on the MBA Outstanding Junior perpetual plaque.

James Huang is a sophomore at Eureka High School and ranked #1 in his class. He plays on the varsity tennis team, and is a member of the Symphonic Orchestra. He won first place in C Men’s singles at the 2010 Indiana Open, and won D men’s singles in the 2009 Don Ross tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned his way onto the second place team for the team tournament following the 2009 US Junior National Championships. He and his brother, Michael, have been regular participants at the US Junior Nationals for the past nine years. He is the son of Wei Huang and Jane Wang of Wildwood, Missouri.

Quinn Hussey is a senior at Charleston High School in Charleston, Illinois. He and his older brother Ben won the 2010 Men Doubles Championship of the Midwest Badminton Association March 21, in Louisville, Kentucky. He will compete in the 2010 Junior Pan American Championships to be held in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, August 5-11, where his father will be the head coach. At the 2010 Junior International Team Trials held at the Bay Badminton Club in Menlo Park, CA, December 27, 2009-January 1, 2010, Quinn placed seventh in Boy’s Doubles. At the 2010 Indiana Open, Quinn took second in Men’s Doubles and reached the semifinals in Men’s Singles.

Quinn is the third son of Kevin and Kathy Hussey of Charleston, Illinois. Dr. Hussey is a professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Sports Studies at Eastern Illinois University, and a former Midwest Badminton Association champion many times over. He represented the United States in the 1985 World Badminton Championships in Calgary, Canada, and the 1987 World Championships in Beijing, China.

Congratulations to these two outstanding students and outstanding badminton Juniors! Best wishes to James and Quinn as they travel to the 2010 Junior National Badminton Championships!

2010 MBA Outstanding Junior Award Deadline top of page
MBA Junior Players are reminded the deadline for application to become a 2010 MBA Outstanding Junior is April 12, 2010. The application is located online on the front page of the MBA website.

The MBA is Region 2 of USA Badminton and includes the following states:
Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wisconsin
